44° 9.845' N 68° 42.214' W 05 Aug 2020 15:46 None None None Burnt Cove, Stonington. Shango is on her mooring that we'll be using fom the time being until we get a permanent one of our own. We've had a great Penobscot Bay cruise and have enjoyed its beauty and variety more than ever. Next steps are to go back to Newburyport tomorrow to get our cars, return to Shango Saturday, and then close and move in to our new house on Monday.
44° 7.11' N 68° 50.128' W 04 Aug 2020 20:52 None None None Carver Cove, Vinalhaven. Picked this spot for Isaias. Good SE through SW protection and big enough to take several boats all with a lot of chain out. 5 boats ended up here and there is plenty of room for everyone. After we were all squared away we spent a quiet afternoon reading in the cockpit awaiting the evening's winds. Looks like the storm continues to move further west of us and should not be hitting the Maine coast directly.Fingers crossed.
44° 12.18' N 68° 37.126' W 03 Aug 2020 19:47 None None None Lunch stop at Devil/Bold hoping that the wind would lighten up. No such luck. The wind and seas continued to howl out of the West so we decided to spend the night at Pickering Cove on Deer Isle. We'll head west tomorrow when it is forecast to be light up until later in the day and we'll choose our spot for Isaias. Beautiful spot here but too exposed to Isaias' S/SW wind direction. Enjoying our Deer Isle surrounds mini cruise.
44° 10.816' N 68° 28.378' W 02 Aug 2020 13:12 None None None Buckle Harbor,Swans Island. Beautiful sail over from Deer Isle. Very pretty spot and protection for SW wind. Isaias seems to be not getting any worse. We may go to our mooring at Burnt Cove today to check out its protection from Isaias predicted wind direction. We'd hope to enjoy today's wind for another sail but may have to miss it.
44° 11.782' N 68° 35.709' W 01 Aug 2020 19:52 None None None Billings Cove, Deer Isle. Really enjoyed Wreck Island yesterday. Walked around the island in about 1.5 hours and continued to be the only boat there. To get an orientation, this morning we visited all the recommended Merchant Row anchorages where we have not yet anchored. Some good options. Starting to pay attention to the probable tracks of Hurricane Isaias.
